Objective This spirit doesn't have an official name. The name on this article is simply a descriptive name of this spirit.

The Blob Creature is one of the unique Spirits from Yomawari: Night Alone.

Appearance[]

The Blob Creature appears like a big white lump of glue. Its shape is similar to that of an obese humanoid as it has two small hands, two stubby feet, and something that resembles the chest. Its size is slightly taller than a child and as fat as a sumo wrestler.

Behavior[]

The first Blob Creature only appears if you trigger its event. To trigger its event, you must interact with the small shrine located near the Vacant Lot with the stereo. When you do, a small blob will jump out of the shrine and begin bouncing in place. You then leave, only to find a trail of small blobs leading towards a much bigger Blob Creature near the entrance of the nearby Vacant Lot.

If the Blob Creature sees the Protagonist it will start chasing after the girl and kill her if it catches up with her. it is very easy to run away as it is slower than walking speed. It also doesn't react to sound so it's easy to just get past behind it.

You can distract it with a Pebble or a Match for a while. You can even temporarily stop it with Salt (which normally slows down other Spirits).

The large Spirit guards a collectible Item called Meat, which may be a part of the said Spirit. Once you obtain the collectible item and then return Home (or get killed), this Spirit will disappear and you cannot re-trigger its event. However, it can be found again in the Downtown area after Chapter 6 is complete.

Mythology and Theories[]

This Spirit is most likely based after the Japanese yokai known as the Nuppeppo, a mythical creature who can be found in the literary work "Zade Hodai Mogyu".

The Nuppeppo is a blob-like yokai that has the smell of rotten meat. It sucks the fat of the dead and eats to the fullest with a 'needle'. It originally disguised itself as a human doctor in the past, but it would later just move around in its real form.

This yokai lacks any facial features, but the flabs of its fat would form a pattern that would resemble the appearance of a human face.

Its name originated from the word "Nupperi". It can mean 'to excessive apply white powder', to the point of distorting the person's face (resembling the 'face' of the Nuppeppo). It can also mean 'to feign ignorance in understanding', which refers to how this yokai had disguised as a human doctor or how its fats creates the illusion of a human face.

It is also said that eating this Spirit's meat can grant a person eternal life, but its foul smell of rotten flesh is so bad that it can knock a person unconscious.

The Blob Creature's item, "Meat", may be the meat that Nuppeppo eats or it is the meat of the Nuppeppo itself.

Trivi[]

  • If you haven't picked up the "Meat" Item after chapter 2, you can find it near the large Blob Creature that in the Downtown area.
